The protest movement against Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro’s government was given backing from an unexpected quarter last night, the popstar Madonna.
Her short and misspelt intervention on the social networking site Instagram drew support and thanks from thousands of fans.
In a post alongside a picture of Maduro she writes: “Apparantly (sic) Maduro is not familiar with the phrase “Human Rights”! Facism (sic) is alive and thriving in Venezuela and Russia. The Ukraine isn’t far behind!”
