The leader of the Opposition in Venezuela turned himself in to the authorities yesterday minutes after rallying his supporters with an emotional speech in the streets of the capital.
The US-educated economist Leopoldo Lopez, 42, had been on the run since last week, when the Socialist Government of President Maduro ordered his arrest, in connection with three deaths that occurred during a protest march.
